The Welsh Brands Everyone Should Know About
We list some of the best Welsh brands from clothing to food and drink ready to celebrate St David's Day

On the 1st of March, the Welsh will celebrate St Davids's Day, and if you aren’t Welsh yourself you might think that just means listening to Tom Jones and adorning our homes with daffodils. However, as a Welsh woman born and bred, I can tell you it’s so much more (and Tom Jones isn’t just played once a year!). St David’s Day is the perfect opportunity to champion Welsh creativity and entrepreneurship.
As a shopping and money-saving expert, it makes sense for me to combine the two and let you know some of the Welsh brands that are not only offering good value for money but also something unique.
Clothing
Corgi
Based in Carmarthenshire, this family-run business has been running for over 130 years. Corgi creates luxury socks, knitwear and blankets using wool, cotton and cashmere.
What makes Corgi special?
Corgi is steeped in Welsh history. In 1892, it started making socks for coal miners. Its designs, inspired by the Welsh landscape, are made by highly skilled craftspeople using traditional and modern methods. The quality is so impressive that it has been royally commended.
Balch Clothing
Founded in 2023, Balch has sustainability at its heart. This Welsh brand is packed with hoodies, t-shirts and more adorned with the Welsh language. Designed for outdoor adventures, there’s something for everyone.
What makes Balch special?
The designs are inspired by the beautiful Welsh countryside, so whether you’re feeling patriotic or love visiting Wales, it’s a tidy reminder. They use sustainable materials that are made using renewable energy, and even the packaging is plastic-free.
Howies
This Welsh brand is owned and run by its employees, it offers high-quality but affordable clothing designed for comfort, durability and style. Their clothing covers all members of the family, from jackets to trousers. It was founded in 1995 and has been growing its sustainability values ever since.
What makes Howies special?
Howies is dedicated to reducing the impact of manufacturing on the environment. Using organic cotton for their sweatshirts, t-shirts and jeans that are Oetex-100 certified. In 2022 they introduced compostable packaging made from cornstarch.
Food and Drink
The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Co
This Welsh company is close to my heart as I’m from the Pembrokeshire coast and have a love of the wonderful fresh seafood that’s found in the area. The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Co. have a wide selection of fresh seafood that can be ordered online as well as a selection of artisan condiments. I love the Mermaid Confetti and freshly dressed lobster!
What makes The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Co. special?
This Welsh company is all about community, it brings the best of what the Pembrokeshire coastline has to offer straight to your table. It supports Welsh fishermen in what, let’s face it, is one of the most challenging jobs within the UK.
Welsh Luxury Hamper Company
The Welsh Luxury Hamper Company brings together the best of Welsh produce. Hampers start at just £15 and are packed with a carefully curated selection of Welsh goodies from tea to chutney. Sweet lovers can indulge in traditional Welsh cakes and Bara Brith whilst those who love savoury can enjoy a selection of cheeses. There is something for everyone, including vegans.
What makes the Welsh Luxury Hamper Company special?
Of course, the products and hampers speak for themselves, but there’s a lovely story behind how this company was founded by Abi Chamberlain. Abi found her dyslexia a huge challenge but soon found support from The Princes Trust. The help from the trust made Abi’s dream a reality and she now fills her hampers with products from 150 fellow Welsh businesses.
Health and Beauty
Of Nature
I was lucky enough to be gifted some Of Nature products at Christmas and was blown away by the efficacy of these products. It was only when I was online replenishing my supply that I realised Of Nature was a Welsh brand - what a bonus!
I can personally recommend the night cream and eye cream, they smell delicious and deliver excellent results.
What makes Of Nature special?
The Welsh brand based in Buith Wells contributes 40% of its profits to conservation projects. As well as this they make the products in small batches themselves using natural ingredients. And more importantly, they are cruelty-free. I love that they use glass bottles which can be returned and filled time and time again.
The Good Wash Company
This Welsh skincare brand bases its formulation on age-old natural Welsh remedies. They use locally sourced essential oils that make the products smell utterly divine! I’m a huge fan of the luxury handwash and guests often comment on how much they love it when they come to visit. If you love lavender and patchouli - it’s one for you.
What makes The Good Wash Company special?
It’s not just for humans! The Good Wash Company also make products for your four-legged friends. From dog wash to paw balm, you and your pouch can get pampered together. I also love that The Good Wash Company offer refill pouches - sustainability is a core value.
