More Than Half of Black Friday Shoppers Will Be Buying Christmas Gifts
More than half of people who like to shop on Black Friday will be looking for Christmas presents at the annual money-saving shopping event this year.

More than half of people who like to shop on Black Friday will be looking for Christmas presents at the annual money-saving shopping event this year.
Our recent survey revealed that when fans of the ever-growing discount day were asked what they spend the most on in the Black Friday deals, 56% of them said Christmas gifts.
Almost half (48%) of shoppers said electrical goods were on their shopping list, and an equal amount said they like to buy clothes and/or shoes. Beauty items were the next popular item, with 27% of shoppers saying they like to purchase beauty products.
The same survey revealed that a quarter (25%) of Brits will spend less on Christmas gifts this year than last year, and 15% said Christmas will be financially challenging.
As the cost of living crisis continues, 17% of people in the UK said they would be using discount days and websites to help pay for gifts and meals this year, and 14% said they’d be using credit cards to shop for Black Friday items.
The survey also revealed that a quarter of Black Friday shoppers will spend up to £100 on the discount day, 24% will spend between £101- £200, 23% will spend between £201-£400 and 13% will spend more than £400.
These results show how Black Friday deals, plus money-saving vouchers and discounts are key for keeping costs down when buying Christmas gifts. It’s no surprise so many people wait for special discount and deal days such as Black Friday in the annual calendar to get some great savings on Christmas presents, especially with a quarter of shoppers planning to spend less this Christmas than in 2023.
But not everyone is aware that there are even more savings to be had on top of the Black Friday deals when it comes to using vouchers. The key to making the most of the major discount shopping day is to be as prepared as possible. Here’s top seven tips to get ahead:
- Use an online wish list and start saving items in there now so that they are ready to be placed straight in your trolley as soon as they go on sale.
- Make sure you’re signed up to your favourite store/brand’s newsletter as you’ll get a heads up on the types of deals and discounts happening on the day.
- Plan ahead and check prices right now if you know what you want. There are free online tools such a PriceRunner that can give you a good headstart. It’s worthwhile doing this for all of the items you fancy purchasing and check them against sale prices to make sure you’ve found the best deal on the day
- Look out for discount vouchers and deals on sites such as MyVoucherCodes to get even more money off
- Ensure you’re following your favourite stores and brands on social media where they will be notifying people about Black Friday deals
- Sign up to online accounts in advance and input your payment and delivery and billing details in advance. It will save you time on the day and websites can often be slow with the Black Friday shoppers surge.
- Use a credit card as it is the safest way of paying for high priced items. Anything with a price tag of more than £100 is covered by section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
