What is Tesco Clubcard Plus?
Tesco Clubcard Plus is Tesco’s subscription service where subscribers can save on their food shops. The perks include 10% off two shops of your choosing for no more than £200 (only eligible for in-store purchases).
Subscribers can also enjoy 10% off on the following brands at Tesco:
- F&F
- Fox & Ivy
- Fred & Flo
- Go Play
- Go Create
- Go Cook
- Paperchase
- Tesco Pet
Please note that certain items are excluded from the two big shops 10% discount. You can read more about which items are excluded from the Tesco Clubcard Plus discount on the Tesco Clubcard Plus terms & conditions page.
How much is Tesco Clubcard Plus?
At the time of writing, Tesco Clubcard Plus costs £7.99 per month. What’s more, you’ll be entitled to a 1-month free trial so you can try it out before you commit.
To join Tesco Clubcard Plus, simply head to the Tesco Clubcard Plus page on the Tesco Clubcard website and click the ‘Start your FREE trial’ button.
Once your free trial ends, you’ll automatically be charged £7.99 monthly, which you can cancel at any time.
Is Tesco Clubcard Plus worth it?
It all depends on how expensive your weekly shops are. If you consistently purchase big weekly shops at Tesco - according to Nimble Fins, a family of four typically spends around £120 per week on food shops - then you could potentially save as much as £192.21 per year (after the subscription cost). This means Tesco Clubcard Plus could be a sensible investment.
However, if you tend to purchase smaller shops, or you shop at Tesco less often, then the savings won’t be as significant. For example, if you’re spending around £40 per week on your food shop, then you’ll only save 1p per month, and 12p per year, meaning you’ll pretty much break even. In this case, Tesco Clubcard is likely a better option than Tesco Clubcard Plus.
Tesco Clubcard Plus for a larger shop
Tesco Clubcard Cost: £7.99 a month
Discount: 10% off two shops per month (of up to £200)
Outgoings: £120 a week on food shops for a family of 4 according to Nimble Fins
10% off £120 shop = saving of £12
£12 off 2 shops = saving of £24 per month
£24 - £7.99 (subscription cost) = £16.01 (approx savings per month with TCP)
Savings per year = £16.01 (per month) x 12 months = £192.12 per year
Tesco Clubcard Plus for a smaller shop
Cost: £7.99 a month
Discount: 10% off two shops per month (of up to £200)
Outgoings: £40 a week on food shops
10% off £40 = £4
£4 off 2 shops = saving of £8 per month
£8 - £7.99 = 1p (approx saving per month with TCP)
Savings per year = 1p (per month) x 12 months = 12p per year
