- How to Choose Your Beauty Loyalty Card
With strategic discounts and a competitive loyalty space, health and beauty brands are vying for consumer attention like never before.
It’s safe to say loyalty programs have been a staple for years for both shoppers and beauty brands. With most of us shopping monthly for health or beauty products, it seems like there is a sea of brands to choose from. More and more of these brands now have a loyalty program to attract consumers.
In fact, pharmacies are the second biggest sector with loyalty cards according to a YouGov study. Over 37% of the population in 2018 were already subscribed to a pharmacy store such as Boots or Superdrug.
Shoppers today seem more switched on to which loyalty cards will actually help them save the most. When purchasing products, shoppers consider competitor pricing, free shipping, and brand image. We’ve put together this comparison guide of beauty loyalty cards to help you continue to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Beauty Loyalty Programs
Beauty loyalty programs are a normal occurrence these days. Traditionally, loyalty programs work by offering you the chance to gain points on your purchases which can be used towards future purchases. In today’s world, beauty loyalty programs almost need to offer more to retain their loyal customers. As savings experts, we’re used to seeing loyalty programs that offer early sale access, exclusive pricing and discounts, free delivery, and birthday vouchers. Some brands use tiered reward levels, giving more savings the more you spend.
Beauty shoppers also recognise how important loyalty programs are. A recent Emarsys survey found over 71% of respondents were more loyal to brands with discounts or incentives. One reason over half of the respondents listed for switching brands was ‘not offering discounts for brand loyalty’. It’s clear we expect a lot from our loyalty programs. With the beauty loyalty space, this can become even more important. Most of us will make less-expensive purchases more often with beauty brands, which is where collecting points and rewards can be useful.
Which beauty loyalty program should I choose?
Beauty loyalty programs can each offer different features and bonuses. However, some are better than others. It’s always worth knowing the positives and negatives of each loyalty program to decide where to shop. A major factor includes how often you shop with a particular brand to collect the most points.
We’ve put together a comparison table of some of the strongest beauty loyalty programs and compared them to each other.

Boots: Best for Drugstore Point Return
The Boots loyalty program is usually considered one of the best for points. A Boots Advantage Card will now give you 3 points for every £1 you spend. Until recently, this was 4 points for every £1 spent. However, this new system with Boots now has 10% off Boots's own brands. A Boots Advantage Card will also give you early access to sales events, personalized offers, and exclusive pricing. There are even exclusive double point days to help you earn even more on your purchases. Boots Advantage Card holders can also pick up a Health and Beauty magazine in-store for free.
- Points System - Boots allows customers to earn points on their orders and spend these on future purchases as money. You can choose to pay with your points at the checkout, once you’ve made 100 points. However, you cannot part-pay with points and cash.
- Double Point Days - The beloved high street retailer has regular Double Point or Triple Point days. You’ll earn double the points meaning you’ll reach the total needed for your next purchase quicker. If you plan on purchasing from Boots, wait for these in-store and online events and get more from your order.
- Price Advantage - A great feature of the Boots Advantage Card is the exclusive Price Advantage program. Boots launched Price Advantage in 2022 and it was a firm favorite with shoppers. It will allow you to shop exclusive price drops on hundreds of items, including up to a third off of selected products. Since May 2023, Boots offers 10% off hundreds of Boots's own brands.
- Saving Groups - As well as points, a Boots Advantage Card can give you specific group discounts. These include student discounts, Over 60s discounts, and access to the Parenting Club savings. You might need extra verification such as a Student ID.

Superdrug: Best for Part Pay
Superdrug is one of the biggest health and beauty brands in the UK. Their loyalty program is called the Health and Beautycard and gives you points on your purchases and exclusive pricing. With every £1 spent, you’ll earn 1 point too. Each point is worth 1p. Like Boots, you can also shop double point days to earn more from your beauty buys. However, Superdrug also gives you more flexibility as you can part-pay with points or cash. It’s worth noting points can only be redeemed in 100 increments.
- Points System - Superdrug also works from a points-based loyalty program, meaning you can pay with your points. This helps regular Superdrug shoppers save on the specific items they wish to spend their points on.
- Flexibility With Payment - In terms of points, Superdrug has impressive flexibility with payment options. Their Health and Beautycard program means points can be used as money. This usually works better than a random free gift or voucher. You’ll even be able to part pay with your points and money - something which has set it apart from its competitors.
- My Rewards Scheme - As a Health and Beautycard holder, you can sign up for ‘My Rewards’ at Superdrug. This is a tiered loyalty program that rewards you for every £5 spent. You can be entered into holiday sweepstakes, be sent a free product or beauty box, and eventually get double points for 12 months. This is a good way to save if you shop for health and beauty products often.
- Free Shipping - Who doesn’t love free shipping? It’s a fantastic incentive to give loyal shoppers. With a Health and Beautycard, you can qualify for free shipping on orders of £20. Usually, standard shipping will cost £3 or it’s free for orders over £25. This means you can save on shipping costs and earn points as well.

LOOKFANTASTIC: Best for Customer Engagement
The LOOKFANTASTIC loyalty scheme isn't particularly competitive when we look at the other schemes on offer. While the points per pound are relatively good compared to Clubcard, N.Dulge and the Superdrug Health & Beautycard, you can only get £1 back for every £100 spent. That said, it won’t take you long to earn points as LOOKFANTASTIC has a variety of quick and easy ways to rack up those points to redeem, and if you're a LOOKFANTASTIC regular, birthday vouchers and early access to new products and sales are a handy benefit.
- Four-Tiered Program - The LF BeautyPlus+ program has an impressive four loyalty tiers for you to work your way up. At Level 0, you’ll get access to perks including early access to sales and limited editions, and by Level 4, you’ll enjoy a special birthday gift, points when you leave reviews, a free LOOKFANTASTIC Beauty Box, and even become part of their exclusive panel. So, whatever level you’re at, you’re sure to make plenty of savings.
- Profile Points - With the LF BeautyPlus+ program, you’ll need a minimum of 500 points to redeem. This may sound hard, but LOOKFANTASTIC now lets you earn points through other LF actions including creating a profile. All you have to do is sign up and set up your profile, and you’ll guarantee 500+ points straight into your points fund.
- Refer-a-Friend Points - Whether you’d like to get your friends in on the action or you’ve got a friend or family member who shops regularly at LOOKFANTASTIC, help them save and give yourself a hit of 25+ points by referring them. The more people you refer, the more points you’ll get.
- Verified Review Points - Next time you place an order from LOOKFANTASTIC, make sure you leave a verified shopper review and you’ll be rewarded with 25+ points. Of course, the more reviews you leave, the more points you’ll earn and you’ll be on your way to 500+ points in no time.

How to Choose Your Beauty Loyalty Card
Here’s an interesting fact: it will generally cost a brand five times more to gain a new customer than retain an existing one. It’s no surprise that shoppers are realizing their worth to brands and expecting more from loyalty programs in return. With an ever-growing beauty market, there are millions of brands to shop from.
This list discusses brands who understand the importance of celebrating their existing customers. Their loyalty programs work on a tier-based or simple points system. They now usually offer other shopping incentives such as free delivery, birthday vouchers, and early access to sales.
When choosing your beauty loyalty program, there are a few things to consider.
- Where do you shop most often? For example, if you mostly shop from a nearby Boots then it makes sense to choose a Boots Advantage Card even if you prefer a different loyalty program.
- When are you most likely to shop for beauty products? If you prefer to shop for beauty on the go, then a Tesco Clubcard might suit you best.
- Do you shop for premium or low-cost brands? For some beauty shoppers, premium beauty brands are their must-haves. For others, shopping for low-cost or own-brand beauty and skincare suits them equally. Check whether the retailer has your preferred brands before signing up for a loyalty program.
- What brand ethos do you support most? As conscious shoppers, we often shop with brands that align with our values and personal ethos. If you support a brand's ethos - such as sustainability - it makes sense to shop with them over other brands. For example, you might shop with brands such as UpCircle which focuses on sustainable beauty.
A final note when choosing your loyalty program is to consider the expiration date of your points. Some loyalty programs will require your points to be used within a year and others within 3 months. If you’re unlikely to build enough points by this time, then it’s best to choose a loyalty program with a longer point expiration date.
So, make sure to consider our page when choosing your beauty loyalty card. In today’s modern world, it’s easy to find a loyalty card to suit you.
