More people in the UK are hoping to receive an iPhone than chocolate on Valentine's Day this year, according to new research from PayPal.
The iPhone came in at number seven on a list of the top nine gifts people hope to receive this year, beating both chocolate and the iPod.
Other items on the list included a surprise, a weekend away, a Valentine's Day card, a romantic dinner, jewellery and flowers.
A separate study conducted by the online payment group found that the average Brit intends to spend £70.20 on a Valentine's Day gift this year.
The research found that British consumers are twice as likely as those in America to shop online for romantic gifts.
PayPal is currently offering a number of hot deals on Valentine's Day gifts from Ann Summers, Goldsmiths and Flowers Direct, including up to ten per cent cashback, which customers receive directly to their PayPal accounts, as well as discounts on purchases.
