Samsung's latest 14.7-megapixel camera has the highest resolution available on a compact.
The flagship NV100HD is a 28mm wide angle lens camera, which can record 720p resolution HD quality video at 30 frames per second.
Would-be film-makers can connect the camera to a HDMI television and watch their home-made movies on the big screen.
The camera has a 3.0-inch LCD screen and an ISO of 3200.
Samsung said that the screen was created with 460,000 pixels "to provide more detail and sharper images to view".
It also has dual image stabalisation, auto-contrast balance and Samsung's patented Perfect Portrait system.
The new NV100HD costs £229 and comes in gold, silver, red and black.
Samsung has also launched the NV9, a 10.2-megapixel camera with a slightly smaller screen and no HD interface.
The NV9 allows users to edit video on the phone before being uploaded to a computer and also has a built in MP3 player.
Bargain code hunters can pick up the NV9 in black, silver or pink for £179.
