Rugged laptop 'suitable for outdoor use'

A rugged laptop that is sunlight readable solves the problem of outdoor laptop use without reducing battery life, according to Getac.

Getac's V100 laptop is a cross between a laptop and a tablet PC and is aimed specifically at users needing a computer that can handle being used outside, the company claims.

The new laptop uses Sunlight Readable Technology, which the company claims blocks reflected light without impacting on the devices battery life.

Getac said: "The V100 is Getac's entry in the compact rugged mobile computer market.

"It is a small, lightweight notebook that can either be used as a standard laptop or, by rotating the display, as a tablet PC slate."

Sporting an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2Ghz processor, up to 2GB or DRAM and a shock-proof 250GB hard drive the new V100 can be fitted with an internal heater to allow it to be successfully operated at temperatures as low as -20C.

The company has three other rugged laptops, the A790, B300 and the M320.
