A new series of sturdy laptops has been unveiled by Panasonic aimed at the "truly mobile professional".
Laptops in the company's Toughbook series aim to address the problem of double-digit failure rates in the world of portable business computing.
Panasonic claimed its durable computers, which include a lightweight laptop, an ultra-portable notebook and a tablet-style device, are aimed at "road warriors, walking workers and mobile executives".
Director of product management at Panasonic Kyp Walls said: "We have designed these notebooks to offer industry-leading portability, durability and wireless connectivity a necessary combination for today's workers on the move."
The laptops in the 8 Series all come equipped with an Intel Core Duo 2 processor and between 1GB and 4GB of memory.
In related news, Cnet.com reports that Panasonic's Toughbook series will be used by pit workers and road-side analysts in Formula One.
The Toughbook CF-19 laptops were chosen for their hardiness and because they feature a fully functional touch-screen, the news provider states.
