Laptop manufacturer Toshiba is "joining the netbook party" with a brand new wireless netbook, according to a technology review website.
Toshiba's decision to enter the crowded netbook market has been "hotly anticipated", according to Gizmodo.com.
Powered by Intel's 1.6GHz Atom processor, Toshiba's NB100, also has 1GB of RAM and will come pre-installed with either the home edition of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system (OS) or version 8.04 of Ubuntu - a Linux-based OS which is available free of charge under the GNU general public licence.
With an 8.9-inch widescreen display capable of a 1,024 x 600 resolution, the laptop will be available this October and will cost £260.
Toshiba states its new netbook, which has a 120GB hard drive and comes in either black, silver or gold, has a three hours and 47 minutes battery life.
In other news, Toshiba aims to achieve a 10 per cent share of the LCD TV market by 2011, reports the Wall Street Journal.
