Samsung has followed the launch of the Toshiba NB100 with its own ultra-portable netbook.
Powered by Intel's Atom processor and coming with between 80GB and 120GB of hard disk space the new Samsung NC10 also sports a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a 10.2-inch display.
The new netbook has a 1,024 x 600-pixel resolution and uses SuperBright non-gloss LED technology to make the screen more readable in sunlight.
Product manager for notebooks at Samsung Electronics UK Dinesh Chand told the Tech Herald: "We have been looking at the netbook market for some time to see where we could really add value for consumers."
He said after extensive research the company had managed to discover what irritated people about ultra-portable notebooks, including small keyboards and a short battery life, and then address these issues, the website reports.
Samsung will release the NC10 in the UK in October and it will be available in white, piano black or metallic blue.
