A new environmentally-responsible 24-inch monitor aimed at IT professionals claims to be the most eco-friendly in the world.
The Lenovo L2440x Wide, which features LED backlight technology developed by IBM, claims to consume 60 per cent less energy than a traditionally lit LCD screen.
Lenovo also attempts to bolster the screens environmental credentials by pointing out that the computer monitor contains no mercury, arsenic or PVC and comes in 65 per cent recycled packaging.
A statement from Lenovo about the monitor, which is in its ThinkVision range, says: "ThinkVision monitors are thoughtfully designed to reduce hazardous materials, use more recycled materials and at the same time deliver a high performance image."
The company claims the monitor has influenced an industry trend and is encouraging greener computing.
Lenovo added the monitor will contribute to the environment.
Meanwhile new research carried out by DisplaySearch, entitled the Large Area TFT LCD Product Plan Report, shows reduced power consumption in LCD monitors has become an industry priority.
