JVC claims that its new LCD TVs are the slimmest available on the market, it has been reported.
The company's full high definition 42 inch LT-42SL89 and 46 inch LT-46SL89 have a width of 39 millimetres, which JVC says is thanks to a new slim panel backlight unit and chassis, gizmodo.com has revealed.
JVC said: "The new slim LCD panel backlight unit is 40 per cent smaller in depth and bezel width compared to a conventional LCD backlight, measuring just 0.79 inches (20 millimetres) deep and 0.51 inches (13 millimetres) wide."
The TVs will be priced at $1,900 (£950) and $2,400 (£1,200), the news provider has reported.
However, they face competition from Hitachi, which is soon to release TVs that have a width of 35 millimetres as part of the company's Wooo UT range, according to the website.
The 32 inch TV from Hitachi is also one kilogram lighter than JVC's new offering, weighing in at 11 kilograms.
